Westchase Artists Society

The Westchase Artists Society is a group of Tampa artists interested in adding vibrancy and art to the already interesting Westchase scene and Tampa Bay area. Our goal is to grow the art community in the Westchase Area as well as the Tampa Bay area by exhibiting art, educating artists, and bringing together visual artists around the area. Join us for an evening of fun introductions and discussion of future artistic activities, i.e. art shows, excursions, workshops, outdoor painting and other art-related events. DON'T be shy. Westchase Artists Society, Tampa FL Meeting

Our next meeting will be held at "Made By Me" in West Park Village on Tuesday, May 22 from 7:00PM until 9:00PM. The shop is located next to the YMCA at 9874 Linebaugh Avenue. This is a ceramic studio and our art project will be painting a piece of pottery. Our meeting will run a little later than usual in order to allow time to finish your work. Please try to be on time.

There is a $7.00 sitting fee that will cover the paint and firing. This fee is being paid by our group. Members are asked to cover the cost of the particular piece that they choose to work on. The pieces range from $12.95 to $35.00 and include everything from mugs and statues to large platters and cookie jars. If you choose not to work on a ceramic piece, please come anyway as we will be discussing usual business and you can use the time to sketch or catch up with the other members.

Westchase Artists Create "Green" Art

In honor of St. Patrick's Day, the Westchase Artists created their own individual interpretations of "green" art to share at their March meeting.

Some of the pieces focused on using the color green while others created green art from recycled or reused materials. Green, cold, hard cash was even used to make flowers.

In addition to sharing their artwork, members also discussed plans for their 2013 group calendar as well as their annual Holiday Market in December. A tentative date of Saturday, Dec. 1, was selected for the Market at the Westchase Golf Club. Members are asked to submit artwork for the calendar to Dean Mackey (deanmackey@gmail.com) by the May meeting so that work can begin on the design and budget.
