The Westchase Artists Society is a group of artists interested in adding vibrancy and art to the already interesting Westchase scene and Tampa Bay area. Our goal is to grow the art community in the Westchase Area as well as the Tampa Bay area by exhibiting art, educating artists, and bringing together visual artists around the area. Join us for an evening of fun introductions and discussion of future artistic activities, i.e. art shows, excursions, workshops, outdoor painting and other art-related events. DON'T be shy. Tampa Bay Art Shows and Art Events: Show Oldsmar City Hall: Westchase Artists Society The Great Art Escape ShowMeet the Artists Reception on Tuesday, May 19, 2009 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. This event will provide an opportunity to meet the artists whose works include painting, pottery, photography, and more. Location: Oldsmar City Art Gallery 100 State Street, Oldsmar, FL 34677. Normal Gallery Hours Monday thru Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM. Feature Artists include Sonya Whipple, Teresa Trubilla, Judy Freeman, Vanessa Montenegro, Dean Mackey, Mark P. The work is for an upcoming exhibition and sale, November 6 through 16, hosted by The Studio@620 located at 620 1st Avenue S., St Petersburg. "Works on Paper" will be a juried exhibition with cash prizes ranging from $250 to $1000. The entry deadline is Tuesday, September 15, 2009, work must have been completed within the last two years and no photography please. The SouthShore Regional Library, 15816 Beth Shields Way, Ruskin is inviting drawing and painting artists to apply to their 2010 bimonthly Artists' Exhibit. The subject matter and media can be varied. Art work must be 2 dimensional and ready to hang. The deadline for application submission is Thursday, October 1, 2009. 2010 Artists' Exhibit applications can be received at the library's Information Desk or by e-mail: Prachs@hillsboroughcounty.org. Subject: 2010 Artist's Application. The SouthShore Regional Library is hosting an eclectic fine art exhibit of the Studio's 18 art educators during July and August. Each educator is also an active artist. The Opening Reception/ Meet the Artists will be held Thursday, July 9 from 6:30-8:00 p.m. The event is free of charge and light refreshments will be served. Florida Museum of Photographic Art is offering a variety of Photography Safari's, international and local, as well as ongoing photography classes this summer. The April 28 meeting of the Westchase Artists Society, held at Stone Chase, featured a review of the upcoming group show, The Great Art Escape, which will appear at the Oldsmar City Hall Art Gallery during May and June. The meeting also featured a presentation on artist Vanessa Montenegro’s 15-minutes-a-day rule.
